Christian Nolle is a half-Danish, half German London based artists. He has spent decades creating work, often in photographic form, that examines the interplay between aviation, politics, and the cities we live in. These include a long running project focusing on Heathrow airport, The Cranford Agreement, which explores the towns surrounding the airport. Other includes portraits of Funchal in Madeira and Tenerife South.
He is also the editor of Direction of Travel, a newspaper that chronicles the history of airline maps and the culture of flying. It features long-form essays exploring various flying-related themes, in addition to maps, and is published twice a year, available globally in shops from Bristol to Singapore.
Christian holds a Bachelor's degree in Photography from the Surrey Institute of Art & Design (2002) and a Master's degree in Communication Design from Central St. Martins, University of the Arts London (2008). His work has been exhibited in Denmark, Germany, Austria, and the UK.
